I. Am. Tired.

After Kellyn was born, I was assured that she would eventually sleep through the night. I have waited patiently and longed for that day. I am still getting up to feed her two or three times most nights. I am so tired. I'm losing brain cells here. My short term memory was the first to go and I can feel my sanity slipping away. Okay, I'm being dramatic. But seriously...I need eight hours! HELP ME! What should I do? The only advice I've gotten is to let her cry when she wakes up. It's hard to do this when Jared has to wake up at 4:30 AM to go to work. But is that the only way? Because if it is, maybe he can sleep in the car. I'm that desperate.
P.S. I also have diaper anxiety. Sometimes when she wakes up and is crying I think "well I know she's not hungry but she's probably wet. I can't let her cry in a wet diaper!" But if I go in to change her diaper, she screams her head off and so I have to feed her to calm her down. Is it ok not to change her diaper all night? Is that sanitary or is she going to get some crazy incurable diaper rash from too long in one diaper?

Yeah, we're part-time models

My mom recently won a contest and got a free photoshoot with a fantastical photographer. He couldn't get over how cute my little sister Jenny is. It must be the pregnancy glow--in addition to her natural cuteness of course. And don't I have a beautiful mom? Thanks Justin!

Help Me--Blog Impaired

How do I make a collage of pictures to go behind the title of my blog? I need a new look. Anyone willing to share their expertise?

A few of Kellyn's favorite things...

Our new friend Kylee. We love it when she comes over to play!
Her new pony tail.
Kellyn's new favorite toys: lotion bottles, mascara, and lip gloss.

Grabbing everything with her pointer finger and thumb...even the camera lense.
Bunny Bear--he's a bear dressed up like a bunny and she can't sleep without him.

Dear Grandma Debbie,

Thank you for the Valentine's card.
Mom finally got it out of the car and let me see it.
It tasted delicious.

Love,
Kellyn

Kellyn's First Easter

Jared's easter gifts: a half eaten bag of chocolate chips, a package of instant oatmeal, and a keychain oil vile.

There was some easter candy in the basket but it didn't make it until Easter morning because somebody ate it...

Humanitarian Moisture

Santa brought me this for Christmas. My post-baby, breastfeeding self was suffering some seriously dehydrated skin. Especially on my face. After Christmas I started washing my face at night with baby shampoo (since we have plenty on hand) and applying some of this lotion liberally. My skin has never looked this clear! (Except not at the moment because I totally went crazy on Easter candy and broke out. Whoops.) I ordered three more bottles which just arrived at my door. Things I love about it: it's all natural, I can use it on my baby, it makes me feel tropical, and it goes to help impoverished women in Kenya. Check it out.

Some Things

Newborn

Someone advised me yesterday to write everything down that I could about Kellyn because I will forget. Time seems to be flying by and my memory gets worse and worse. So, before I forget, I wanted to write yet another bulleted list of things about Kellyn at 7 1/2 months. Probably boring if you're not her parents or grandparents. Maybe boring even then, but it's for journaling purposes and second child reference.
  • She has been sitting up by herself since she was about five months old.
  • She started solids when she was six months old. We think her favorite food so far is avacado. We think that because she made the least disgusted face when she tried it the first time. She eats some everyday, usually with some brown rice. Other foods she's tried are banana, sweet potato, acorn squash, applesauce, mangoes, and oatmeal.
  • She has started the "cheeser" smile and does it more and more everyday. We hope her face doesn't get stuck like that.
  • She loves to take baths and insists on trying to grab the faucet, the drain, and the cup I'm using to rinse her off, rather than playing with any toys.
  • Speaking of toys, she generally prefers whatever she is not supposed to be playing with.
  • Her favorite toys are socks: her own, mine, Jared's, or anybody's socks really.
  • Her favorite song is "Five Little Monkeys Jumpin' on the Bed." Whenever she is sad, as soon as I sing that song, she quits crying and gets really happy. I sing it everday after bath time. She always gets sad when bath time is over and it's time for clothes again. (Don't we all...)
  • She thinks her Daddy is the funniest guy in the world.
  • She is now using her thumb and index finger for EVERYTHING. Even when she's playing with a ball, she just touches it with those two fingers.
  • She sticks her tongue out when she is concentrating--which is quite often.
  • She goes to bed at 7 and gets up at 7. But she also gets up once or twice in between still. We are working on that.
  • She is on the verge of crawling but just hasn't quite figured it out yet.
  • She is adorable and we love her! But that probably goes with saying.
